The intensity of a sound wave is the amount of power in the wave per unit area and has units of W/m2. The intensity of a sound wave depends on how far we are from a source. If we label that distance as R, then the sound intensity is

sound intensity = sound power / (4 π R2) ,where R is the distance we are from the sound source.
