answered-by-expert Expert Answer
  • Centromere is a specialized DNA sequence in a chromosome that holds together the two daughter chromatids.
  • Centromeres represent a constricted region of the chromosome where two identical sister chromatids are most closely in contact.
  • During anaphase, each pair of chromosomes is separated into two identical, independent chromosomes.
  • The separated chromosomes are then pulled by the spindle fibres to opposite poles of the cell.
