A phenotype is any observable characteristic of an organism, such as its morphology, development, biochemical or physiological properties etc. Phenotype is a consequence of the interaction of the organisms' genotype and the environment.
Genotype is the genetic makeup of an individual. It is the sum total of the genetic information contained in an organism. You can't always tell the genotype by looking at the phenotype.
