What is the function of pancreas as endocrine gland.

Pancreas is an important endocrine gland in our body. The entire pancreas is not involved in endocrine function. There is a part of pancreas showing islets of Langerhans. These islets are involved in secretion of pancreatic hormones.
Pancreas produces many hormones like insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide.
Insulin helps in reducing the blood glucose level whereas glucagon increases the blood glucose level
