What is the function of following in human body. (i) Alveoli (ii) Salivary amylase?

Alveoli provide a large surface area where the exchange of gases can take place. Gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place in the alveoli.
Salivary amylase is the enzyme present in saliva for digestion of starch into maltose. (which will later get digested to glucose in the duodenum)
