What is the formula for angle of deviation

Expert Answer
I assume this question is related to refraction through glass prism .
Figure shows the deviation of light ray when refraction is taking place in prism.

PQ is incident ray that makes incident angle i and refracted as QR with angle of refraction r1 .
Angle of incidence on other face AC is r2 .

RS is emerging out with angle of emergence e .

From ΔQNR ,  r1 + r2 = 180 - begin mathsize 14px style angle end styleQNR = begin mathsize 14px style angle end styleA
Angle of deviation δ = ( i - r1 ) + ( e - r2 ) = ( i + e ) - ( r1 + r2 )

Angle of deviation δ = ( i + e ) - begin mathsize 14px style angle end styleA
