The exact and latest definition of matter is: 'Everything which have mass and ocupies space is called matter.'
 
proton, neutron and electron also have mass and they occupy space. protons and neutron are present in the nucleus. electrons revolve around the nucleus. So, protons, electrons and neutrons are also called matter.
