what is the difference between threshold frequency and work function?

Threshold frquency is the frequency of incident radiation after which photoelectrons are emitted from the surface of a metal.
 
Work function is a form of energy. It is the characteristic of the metal. It is the minimum energy that the photons of incoming radiation must possess in order to emit photoelectrons from the metal.
