Expert Answer:

The Principal quantum number give the no. of shells present in an atom, and name of shell.

For eg,  if n=2, the shellis

THe azimuthal Q no. gives about the information of no of subshells.

For eg, if n=2, no of subshells = 0 to (n-1)

                                                       =0,1

                    so,no of subshells are 2.which is s and p.because is l=0 subshell is s.and for l=1,subshellis p.
