Infrared radiation is also called heat radiation. Its lies just below the visible range of human eye or in other words its frequency range lies beyond the red light. It is low frequency electromagnetic radiation and also carries low energy.

It affects an object at macroscopic level producing heat.

Ultraviolet radiation lies just above the visible range of human eye or its frequency range is beyond the violet light. It is high frequency electromagnetic radiation and also carries high energy.

It affects an object at microscopic level, thus affecting individual molecules and atoms.
