what is the difference between cytoplasm and protoplasm ?

The interior of the cell is known as protoplasm. It is a semi-fluid, translucent colloidal substance which is the living matter of all cells. It is divided into the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm is the viscous gel like region outside the nucleus.
