Collenchyma cells share many of the features of parenchyma cells. But collenchyma shows extra deposition of cellulose at the corners of its cells, which is not shown by parenchyma.
Parenchyma show considerable intercellular spaces. Intercellular spaces are negligible or absent in collenchyma.
Parenchyma provides support to plants and stores food. It also serves as a packing tissue.
Collenchyma provides mechanical support and flexibility to various parts of the plant. Due to collenchyma, various parts of the plant can bend without breaking.
