Asked by | 21 Feb, 2009, 07:08: PM
Expert Answer

Centrioles are present within the centrosome. The centrosome,is an organelle that serves as the main microtubule organizing center of the animal cell as well as a regulator of cell-cycle progression. Centrosomes are composed of two orthogonally arranged centrioles surrounded by an amorphous mass of protein. Each centriole is made up of a ring of nine groups of microtubules. The two centrioles are arranged such that one is perpendicular to the other.
