Expert Answer:

Inertia is the natural tendency of an object to remain at rest or in motion at a constant speed along a straight line.

Inertia may be thought of as having two forms: inertia of rest, due to which a body at rest remains at rest, and inertia of motion, due to which a moving body keeps moving without any change in its velocity.

Examples:

1: Due to inertia at rest, if the fast moving carom coin hits strong the bottom of pile, only the bottom most carom coin is removed, the pile standing as such.

2: The fan shows the tendency to continue its circular motion even after it is switched off due to the inertia of motion.
