what is the defference between parallax method and astronomical unit to measure the distances between the celestial bodies ?

Parallax Method is an indirect method to measure large distances from earth, like distance of a star or a planet  from the earth; while Astronomical Unit is a unit used in the measurement of very large distances. It is the average Earth-Sun distance.
