Striated muscles are voluntary in nature and show light and dark striations. Smooth muscles are involuntary in nature and lack striations

(In addition striated muscle fibres are cylindrical whereas smooth muscle fibres are spindle shaped.

Nucleus is centrally located in smooth and peripherally located in striated muscles)
