when light travelling obliquely from one transparent medium to another transparent medium,
the direction of propagation of light in the second medium changes.
This phenomenon is known as refraction of light. The light ray that has changed its direction in
second medium is known as refracted ray.

Let us consider refraction of light is taking place in galss slab , while light is enterin from air to glass as shown in figure.
Light ray marked as EO is incident ray . as seen from figure, Light ray OO' has deviated its initial path in air due to refraction.
Light ray OO' is called as refracted ray and point O is called as point of refraction.
