what is radical and free radical?

Radical is a group of atoms behaving as a single unit in most chemical reactions. Important inorganic radicals include ammonium, NH4; carbonate, CO3.
Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons. They are very reactive and cause damage to surrounding molecules.
