Protoplasm is the viscous, translucent, polyphasic colloidal substance that makes up the essential material of all plant and animal cells. Protoplasm is composed mainly of nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and inorganic salts. It forms the physical basis of all living activities.
Protoplasm includes cytoplasm and nucleoplasm. The protoplasm surrounding the nucleus is known as the cytoplasm. So in other words, cytoplasm does not include the nucleoplasm.
