PDS is known as Public Distribution System.
It is a chain of fair price of shops (ration shops) through which rice, wheat, sugar and kerosene are provided to the poor people at subsidised prices. This system was made to ensure smooth supply of susidised food to the poor. A family needs to have a ration card to avail the benefits of PDS.
