Parallelogram law of addition
If and are the two vectors to be added, a diagram is drawn in which the tail of coincides with the tails of . Taking these two as the adjacent sides we complete the parallelogramABDC, where = and = . The diagonal through the common tails gives the sum of the two vectors. i,e + = , where is the diagonal through the common tails.
Therefore, such type of vector addition is called parallelogram of addition.
