Expert Answer
Mitosis is the cell division which occurs in all body cells for growth and repair of the tissues. Chromosome number is maintained i.e. daughter cells and parent cell have the same number of chromosomes.
Meiosis is the cell division which occurs only in reproductive cells i.e. it is the cell division necessary for the formation of gametes. Chromosome number is reduced to half. Daughter cells have half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell.
