The polished surface is a very smooth and shiny surface which result in the great reflective quality of the surface. Polishing a surface normally remove the uppermost layer of the material.
Yes, polishing can affect the transfer of energy. A highly smooth will absorb less than rough surface because the rough surface has more area.
