Expert Answer
A counterexample to a mathematical satisfies the statement's conditions but does not lead to the statement's conclusion.
Example
Consider a statement 'Opposite of any number is smaller than the original number'.
Here if we consider the original number as '2' then its opposite is '-2'
clearly 2 > -2
Now, consider the original number as '-1', its opposite is '1'.
Here the above statement does not satisfies and we conclude that the statement is not always true.
