What is linkage??Can you give some examples.

Expert Answer
It is the tendency of groups of genes on the same chromosome to be inherited together. Hence the traits that are controlled by these genes tend to be inherited together.
For example:
- In fruit flies, the genes affecting eye color and wing length are inherited together because they appear on the same chromosome.
- In sweet pea, the gene for flower colour and the gene affecting the shape of pollen grains show linkage
