What is lagerhans island? Explain also state its function.

The islets of Langerhans constitute approximately 1 to 2% of the mass of the pancreas. They are the endocrine cells of the pancreas.

Different types of cells such as alpha, beta, delta and PP cells are preesent in the islets. These cells produce important hormones such as insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide.
