what is lactation amenorrhea?
Asked by supreethabv | 8th Nov, 2010, 12:00: AM
Lactational amenorrhea is a contraceptive method that is based on the natural postpartum infertility that occurs when a woman is amenorrheic and fully breastfeeding. The infant's suckling suppresses the production of the hormones that are necessary for ovulation. Without ovulation, pregnancy cannot take place. This method acts as a contraceptive in case of females who are exclusively or almost exclusively breastfeeding , have not had menses since giving birth and are less than six months postpartum.
