A large proportion of non-coding DNA that had no known biological function was referred to as junk DNA. However, recent studies say that all that non-coding part is not junk and some of the junk DNA is the driving force behind the evolution of complexity in living organisms. As per recent researches, the junk DNA could promote cancer progression.
