All elements except noble gases exists in some or the other combined form in nature. eg. Al exists as Al2O3 , Fe exists as Fe2O3 , Cu as CuS etc.

Taking out element in its pure form as Al, Fe,Cu etc. is called isolation of elements.

If we want to obtain element in pure form, certain steps have to be perfomned which are called metallurgical steps.
