What is induced emf ?

Faraday observed that, whenever the amount of magnetic flux linked with a conductor changes, an emf is induced and it lasts as long as the magnetic flux through the conductor changes. The magnitude of the induced emf is directly proportional to rate of change of the magnetic flux.
If begin mathsize 11px style straight ϕ subscript 2 minus straight ϕ subscript 1 end style represents the change in flux in time t, therefore,
