What is endocytosis?

Expert Answer:

Endocytosis is the taking in of matter by a living cell by invagination of its membrane to form a vacuole. Here the cell takes in materials from the outside by engulfing and fusing them with its plasma membrane.

There are two types of endocytosis, called phagocytosis (meaning cell-eating) and pinocytosis (meaning cell-drinking).

It is a part of 'Fundamental Unit of life'.
