Expert Answer:

domain of a function is the set on which the function is defined.
range is the set of all images of the elements of the domain.
e.g.
f(x)=1/x
 is a function which can be defined for all real numbers except the number zero.
so
domain =R-{0}
if A={1,2,3,4}
B={1,2,3,4..20}
let f(x)=2x for all x belonging to A
then
R={2,4,6,8)
