Expert Answer:

Dilution streaking is a technique used in microbiology. Here the culture of microrganism is diluted to a required level and then streaked on an agar plate to obtain discrete colonies.

The object of subsequent dilution streaking is to spread out individual colony forming units of the bacteria, so as to obtain discrete or well separated colonies, which can be further subcultured.
