what is difference between wave and vibration?

Expert Answer:

The to and fro or back and forth motion of an object is termed as vibration.
and these vibrations produce wave.
for example:
When a tightly stretched band is plucked, it vibrates and produces sound wave. When it stops vibrating, it does not produce any sound.
so we can say that vibration is the CAUSE and wave is its EFFECT.
