Expert Answer:

Covalent bonding is a bonding between 2 or more non metallic atoms to complete their octet configuration by sharing of electrons with each other.

 Structure of Ethane:

Carbon atom has 4 electrons in its outermost shell and hydrogen has 1 electron in the outermost shell.

The six hydrogen atoms share their one electron each with carbon to form six carbon-hydrogen covalent bonds.

The two carbon atoms share one electron each to form one carbon-carbon covalent bond.
