Biomagnification or biological magnification, is the increase in concentration of a substance that occurs in a food chain.It is the concentration of a substance, such as DDT or mercury, in an organism exceeds the background concentration of the substance in its diet.
 
A food chain is a group of organisms that are interrelated.Each member of the group organism feeds on the chain below it and the group of organisms above, in turn feed on them.
 
A food web is a system of interconnected and interdependent food chains.
It can also be defined as a network of food relationships through which nutrients and energy are passed from one living organism to another.
