The alternative forms of genes producing different effects for a character are known as alleles. There are two types alleles.
1. Dominant Allele: The allele which decides the appearance of an organism even in the presence of an alternative allele is known as a ‘dominant allele’.
2. Recessive Allele: The allele which decides the appearance of an organism only in the presence of another identical allele is called a ‘recessive allele’.
