What is acid rain?

Acid rain results from acids like nitric acid and sulphuric acid present in polluted air.
These acids are formed when oxides of nitrogen and sulphur come into contact with rainwater.
The pH of normal rainwater is about 5.6 while pH of acid rain ranges between 5.6 to 3.5.
