What is a virtual object?

Virtual means it appears to be real although it may not have a physical presence.
A virtual object is usually associated with optical systems like we get virtual images.
Virtual Image: Images that cannot be formed on a screen is called virtual image.
Eg:images formed in a plane mirror.
