What is a physical standard? What characteristics should it have?

Those quantities which can be measured and in terms of which the laws of physics are described are called physical quantities. Eg., length, mass, time, temperature etc.
In measurement process, a physical quantity is compared with a standard quantity. This statndard quantity is called a unit.
A physical standard must have following characteristics:
