A chemical reaction is a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to another.
Example: Burning of magnesium in oxygen to form magnesium oxide.
This is a chemical reaction because reactants react with each other to form the products which have different characteristics from reactants.
A chemical equation represents a chemical reaction.
Example: 2Mg+O22MgO
The chemical reaction written in word can be expressed in terms of formula of reactants and products in chemical equation.
