1) Ethanol reacts with air to evolve carbon dioxide gas and water vapour. It undergoes combustion to form these products. But, under controlled combustion i.e. oxidation it forms ethanoic acid along with water.
2) Ethanol reacts with sodium to form sodium ethoxide and hydrogen gas.
