what happens to the interference pattern if the slits are illuminated directly with the source?

If a single source is used to illuminate the slits then two coherent sources are obtained for inteference.
If each slit is illuminated individually by a different source of light, then two coherent sources will not be obtained so inteference pattern will not be observed on the screen.
