What happens to the blood in Thalecimia ?
Asked by | 17th Aug, 2009, 08:05: PM
In thalassemia, the genetic defect results in reduced rate of synthesis of one of the globin chains that make up haemoglobin. Reduced synthesis of one of the globin chains can cause the formation of abnormal haemoglobin molecules, thus causing anemia, the characteristic presenting symptom of the thalassemias.
