What do you know about the occurrence of elements and their classification?

Elements occur in nature in a free state or combined state:
Free state means in the native form or gaseous form
And combined state means in the form of complex.
Classification of elements:
- There are 115 elements known at present.
- It is very difficult to study the properties of all these elements separately.
- So, the scientists felt the need to divide the elements into few groups such that elements in the same group have similar properties.
- In this manner, the study of a large number of elements is reduced to the study of a few group of elements.
- This is the reason for the periodic classification of elements.
There are some early attempts to classifications of elements.
(1) Dobereiner’s Triads
(2) Newlands’ Law of Octaves
(3) Mendeleev’s Periodic Table
Nowadays we follows the Modern Periodic Table.
Modern Periodic Law: Properties of elements are a periodic function of their atomic number.The periodic table, based on the modern periodic law is called the Modern Periodic Table.
