What causes smog over cities?

Smog is the mixture of fog and smoke. Various pollutants like bad ozone, nitrogen di oxide etc. are present in smog. When various polluting gases are released in the environment as a result of fuel burning, vehicular traffic and industries, they react with sunlight and heat forming smog. We generally find smog in industrial regions.
