The two things that the Government has done to help the poor farmers are:
- It has introduced various schemes from time to time to help the farmers. Once such programme is Gramin Bhandaran Yojna. This programme creates scientific storage capacity with allied facilities in rural areas to meet the requirements of farmers for storing farm produce, processed farm produce and agricultural inputs. Improve their marketability through promotion of grading, standardization and quality control of agricultural produce.
- It also has started providing loans at a lower rate of interest, so that the farmers can repay the loans they have against the moneylenders.
- They have started providing subsidies to the farmers on the purchase of seeds, fertilisers and pesticides.
