what are the disadvantages(if any) of transpiration in plants?

Expert Answer:
i) Transpiration sends out 95% of the water absorbed by plants. Most of the absorbed water is lost without being utilised.
ii) When the rate of transpiration is higher than the amount of water absorbed by the roots, plants undergo water stress. Due to this the physiological processes of plants are impaired. Excessive transpiration leads to wilting and death of the plants.
