answered-by-expert Expert Answer

Xylem transports water and mineral salts whereas phloem transports photosynthetic products.

Transport of materials in xylem occurs by simple physical forces whereas transport in phloem requires energy.

In xylem, transport occurs from roots upwards to other parts of the body. In phloem, transport occurs from leaves to other parts of the plant body.
