Expert Answer:

Xylem transports water and minerals whereas phloem transports the prepared food.

Xylem consists of tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibres whereas phloem consists of sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem fibres and phloem parenchyma.

Xylem consists of mainly dead elements whereas phloem consists of living tissue.

Transport in xylem does not require energy and largely depends upon physical forces whereas transport in phloem requires energy.
